What is SmackTalk RC?

SmackTalk RC is a series of videos put together by Bert Kammerer and Bobby Watts. The videos are released approximately once a month.

What are these videos about?

Everything about remote control helicopters. Every episode focuses on a different topic, everything you can think of will be discussed; nitro engines, blades,  helicopter events, training, competitions, interviews and more!

Why are the videos not free?

This is quite simple, every RC helicopter site on the Internet, including all the well known forums derive their income and cover their expenses by charging advertising fees to display banners on their sites. Podcasters make their money by charging “sponsors” and including their products in their podcasts. We have a completely different approach, instead of being forced to include content from advertisers to support our site, we have decided to charge a very small fee per each video download. This fee basically covers our expenses for server hosting, web design/maintenance and bandwidth. By taking this approach, we are free to express our honest opinion about products and we have complete control over the content we provide.

How to I purchase a video? Do I need to subscribe?

Quite simple, you do not need to subscribe to anything, you simply pay for each video you download. The prices per video start at $0.99 and go up depending on run-time as well as content, most 45 minute long videos are $2.99. You can view the videos as many times as you wish. Simply add the videos you want to the cart, then proceed to check-out. We use PayPal and accept PayPal payments as well as major credit cards through the PayPal interface. Once your purchase is complete, you will be redirected to a page with download links so you can download the video right-away. You will also receive two email messages; one message from PayPal, which will include a payment receipt and another one from “SmackTalk RC Mailer <noreply@www2.smacktalkrc.com>”, which will include your download URLs. Please make sure you add our email address “noreply@www2.smacktalkrc.com” to your whitelist on your spam filter (if you have one).

What about copyright?

All our videos are copyright protected. We hope that you do not post these videos online or distribute them in any way shape or form. The reproduction, duplication, distribution (including by way of electronic means), publication, modification, copying or transmission of material from our site is strictly prohibited without the expressed consent of SmackTalkRC.com. Breach of these terms may violate copyright, trademark and other laws and is punishable by law.

What are the video formats?

Videos are encoded to the H.264 format (MP4). The quality of this format vs. file size is better than most other formats. There are many ways to play MP4 video, Windows Media Player as well as Apple Quicktime are excellent players for this particular format. Different software and hardware combinations can make a huge difference on playback quality and performance issues (dropped frames).

When you buy a video, you’ll be provided a link to a download page, you will then have the opportunity to download the videos in three formats; HD (High Definition) format (.mp4 file explained above), SD (Standard Definition, also .mp4 file) and M4V (Portable) format (.m4v file) playable with iTunes and fully compatible with your iPhone or iPod. If your computer has difficulties playing the mp4 file, try playing the m4v file.

Warning: DO NOT USE A DOWNLOAD MANAGER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DOWNLOAD!  This will use multiple attempts to download a single file, resulting in a failed download.  Simply “Right Click”, hit “Save As” and save your file to your PC.

How do I view the video on my iPhone/iPod/iPad?

This is easy! Download the portable file (it has an m4v extension). Once the file is in your computer, open iTunes, click on “File” and “Add to Library”, then go to your iPhone/iPod/iPad preferences and select the “Movies” tab. Once there, make sure the video is selected and click “Sync”. This will send the video to your phone.
