Poll: Would you like to watch short episodes too?
We’re thinking about releasing short episodes “SmackTalk Quick Tips” lasting 10 to 15 minutes each focusing on anything specific, such as teaching a particular 3D maneuver, specific setup tips (throttle servo/linkage setup for example), etc. These episodes would be released in between each regular episode and they would cost anywhere between $0.99 and $1.49.
Would you be willing to purchase and download "SmackTalk Quick Tips" 10 to 15 min episodes?
- Yes, I think this is a great idea! (85%, 88 Votes)
- No, I am not interested. One episode a month is plenty! (15%, 16 Votes)

If you answered yes, please give us suggestions for the first couple of episodes below in the comments section

It would be nice not to have to pay for full episodes when only a small part of the episode has anything of interest. For example, not everybody has an interest in hard 3D but they might find setup tips useful.
I assume you would tell people which full episode each mini episode will appear in, so that those who want to wait for the full one, can.

Actually, the mini episodes will have content that is separate from that full episodes. For example, a mini episode might talk about teaching a certain maneuver in detail or governor setup, or blades, etc. whereas full episodes will be more in depth about other things, i.e. all about setups, all about engine tuning, etc.

Hi guys. I would really like to see some short episodes dedicated to learning new moves. Also a choice between mode 1 or mode 2 instructions would be awesome..cheers. Steve.

I am interested in all kind of tips, tricks, setups, electronic choices and etc. But it may also be things we probably already know, just to confirm we are doing the right thing. For example, it would be nice to hear about governor mode for electric helis, and flat or v-curves without a governor. Maybe something about tail pitch in neutral position, setting up 0 degree pitch with flybarless heads. Something about the weight on your heli, what to pay attention on and etc. And give us a peek if you use setup tools or stick to eyeballing

I would like to see specific 3d moves broken down and narrarated, for example, a kaos with a picture in picture view of the bird and the tx, while being talked through the maneuver.

1. Pros/cons and suggested use of programmed mixture control such as on the “Multigov” and “Carbsmart.
2. Transmitter settings you suggest for sport and 3D such as expo, gyro gain, dual rates, throttle curves, etc.
3. Power systems options for electronics on nitro; with regulator on not, Spektrum and Futaba ( I am running Futaba with Scott Gray regulator).

It would be great to buy shorter videos with how to’s on 3D moves. Maybe bundle 4-5 new tricks in each mini-episode with all different camera angles incuding stick cam

SmackTalkRC Crew, a couple of ideas from a newbie; scaling, Smaller vs. Larger machines act quite differently, correct, a little micro FP is squirrelly as compared to a 700 so what can I do with it? General stuff, I noticed in the episode#2 it looks like the controls stick lengths you guys use are very short, is there better control with shorter control sticks? Is there a maneuver like a ferris wheel like a vertical hurricane? Another idea about scaling and simulators, does it make sense to learn on a smaller copter and then progress to a larger model? I think that offering minivids on different maneuvers would be a great idea… and having a good selection of them at that, so that guys can choose whatever appeals to them. So not just one or two in between episodes… but rather a whole bunch. Be in-depth with one maneuver, rather than tackle several in one video. Its better to have all the nuances of one maneuver, than tidbits of several.
Someone else suggested that downloadable vids for Phoenix sims be used – I thought that was an excellent idea. The angle of the camera on the transmitter is a bit off, so its a little harder to see what’s really happening on the sticks.

Hey guys, I like the idea of having more frequent vids, but at the same time, the 45 minute/once a month is great, because I can pop it in and not only be entertained, but also, find something of quality with our sport. Add to that, it’s only 3 bucks a month or so.. Compare that to a Hostetler disc(and we have all of them.. Ugghhh) set, and it’s nothing..
I enjoyed the second and am downloading the first as I type this.. BTW, great job with the new mics dudes! But at the same time, I loved the landing skid mic stand! LOL! All jokes aside, the content, whether once a month or smaller episodes, I will still purchase.. Doesn’t matter to me either way..

Great idea these short videos. I for one would prefer to watch 15 min. on one topic as opposed to snatches of this and that. After all we are not talking big buck here so go man make them happen.

I would like to say that your info is invaluble in any way shape or form!.cheers guys for all the hard work.
I would like to see some Finless type “How to” stuff showing the Pay Offs from aving a little patience when doing things and that attention to Detail does show in the smooth flying of ANY bird?
But as others have said 15 to 20 min specific topics would be a fantastic idea

Perhaps you have the ideal forum to get the rest of us to maybe put forward some short video’s showing what we do with our Helis and perhaps things we do to make them fly better?.
eg: how to setup a Fixed Pitch Heli Like a HoneyBee for carrying a small camera and the associated pitfalls.I know this is a far cry from the “Smackdown” flying theme heere now,but perhaps later when things slow a little.
I for one have a little Wasp 200XE which I have had to tweak in a multitude of ways to get it to perform ‘predictably’ and still haveing trouble getting upside down.I wont even start on the Beam or the Protos!.I just bought a $20 camera that I think will do to watch my flights and evaluate my flying and maybe put a vid together as you guys have been very inspireing to say the least! GOOD WORK mates
